90 Minutes, Another Level.

Sweet jumping crapola the leveling changes in WoW are much more impacting than I anticipated. I already told you all how I hit 37 in just a few hours of playing on Sunday, but I spent 90 minutes last night in Dustwallow Marsh, an area I'm not familiar with questing in, and I hit level 38 in just under that time. I had rest experience, like before, so that helped a lot I know, but I doubt without it it would have taken much more time. You only get the rest experience when killing things, and most of my quests involved actions like burning things down or killing a named mob, and being a druid I snuck my way around most of it.

So already, in 2 days back to alt-ing it up, I've gained 4 levels. If ever there was a hook to get me back to playing my alts in WoW this speed change was it. They're not handing the levels to you via a slash command, you still earn them, but they're taking a lot less time to grind than they used to. And it does feel nice. Yes, yes it does.

Anyone else spending time with an underloved alt character these days?

I'm still strolling through the Ghostlands with my baby mage. No hurry. Eventually I'll switch to my warrior at 30 or my priest at 51, but for now I'm just enjoying the newb zone. I'm happy they're showed the non-raider set some love in the last patch. Hope to see more in the future.

I tend to play my alt (Blood Elf Warlock, currently Lv47) maybe a couple of times a week.
Things certainly have speeded up as of late. Unlike others, I haven't felt short of quests to do in the 40s; in fact I think I will hit lv 50 long before I am done with Ferelas/Hinterlands/Dustwallow.

I'm mainly happy that most elite mobs outside of instances are no longer elite. I've already seen off former elite Ogres in Stranglethorn, Syndicate and Ogres in Stromgarde, and next stop I think is going to be the Zul quests in HInterlands, once I've finished off a few of the 20-odd quests I still have in my log.
I might even stay in Azeroth until I hit lv 60 (shock horror).

I've been trying to get the enthusiasm to play my Draenei priest, but he's at that awkward late 40s stage of his life and his quest log is just devoid of any suitable quests. I can't do grinding: I tried once and my head folded in on itself as if I'd just sucked the most sour lemon in the entire universe. Finding groups is tricky, and when you do it's a PuG, and as we all know kids, the P is for PAIN.

Hrm, maybe I could brave the lemony face melting of grinding to just nudge him those extra couple of levels to start the Un'Goro quests, then he'd be free from the tyranny of tedium once more.

There's got to be something, Melmoth to quest with. I admit that the quests are thin from 45-50, but I've never had to solely grind out a level... while I'm sure you've checked, I'll remind you. :)

Hinterlands
Western Feralas
Tanaris
Even some STV

If you look in those places, thanks to the new mini-map !'s and ?'s everywhere, you should find some quests to help alleviate the grind. I can't imagine you're completely void of anything that doesn't need a PUG. I refuse to believe it, in fact! *indignant face*

But yes, this whole let's help out alt-a-holics thing is awesome. I was getting tired of running AV over and over as my only form of gaming at 70, so this revitalization of alting is just what I needed for now.

Hmm, my few remaining Tanaris quests are just too high a level, I'm pretty sure I did the Hinterlands at some point, and STV is all group quests other than that one with wave after wave after wave of gorillas, which is flagged as solo, and then when you think you've got it, some named gorilla comes along and does bad things to you with a banana. Bad. Things.

Hmm, West Feralas, that could be one that I haven't done yet, I'll check that one out soon, thanks!

Ok, stop, stop now with the indignant face. Look, I'm going to Feralas. See? See me going?

*Indignant face becomes smile*

*Smile becomes creepy gaze*

*Creepy molestation gaze becomes reason for panic*

I did JacinthorAlor (or whatever!) in the Hinterlands last night. Took me about 4 hours solid play. I think I completed 4 quests, maybe 5, and got some nice loot as a bonus (as well as the usual "You are a true hero! Here, this Plate will look good on you, Warlock!" type rewards).
I did the whole thing solo except for one thing.
At the very top of the place there is a troll who is about to be sacrificed; in order to save him you have to kill the Key keeper who is at the end of a cave. Getting to the Key keeper wasn't so difficult, but said keeper had 2 bodyguards.
I was lv 48, the keeper was lv 51, one guard lv 51 and one lv 50.
So I sent my Voidwalker to tie one guard up, chain-feared the other, and nuked the key-keeper. It almost worked, but I went OOM too quickly. Guard respawns made it almost impossible to rezz safely either.
Finally I had to admit defeat and join a pug of 2 other players who were doing the same quest.
Other than that it was great. What was a pretty unattractive set of quests suddenly became fun.

My friend who has never gotten past level 33 in WoW is already 44 and cruising along so these changes were sorely needed. Of course now I dont really feel like playing anymore but oh well. I have been playing a long time already as it is.

My wife (still getting used to saying that) is leveling her 30 shaman, but she's been having trouble finding quests for her level (most are too high and she's finished duskwood) but I think after she sticks out a couple more levels and can dig into STV it will be smooth sailing. Also, gear can be incredibly hard to find/expensive on the AH at those lower levels which sucks, hehe.
