I agree that it is beautiful but I am hoping the frame rate gets more consistent as time goes on and patches are released. I am also a bit worried about the DX10 client when it comes out. I get an average of about 30 fps right now and I can't imagine it being playable with DX10 because performance usually drops when you use that version of direct x.
Usually, but we're also talking about a game where the performance increases for people who turn on AA when it's set to off.
The Cheetah 2 engine is a strange beast. It'll be interesting to see how it handles DX10 in the late summer.
One thing's for sure... even with 9 this is the most gorgeous MMOG to date.
Believe it or not...for some reason, there is some code in the 8x series of video cards that if you boost AF and AA, the game goes faster..
? WTF ?
For example...EQ2 runs horrible on the 8800GT with application settings...
Turn AF to 16x and AA to 8x
I get a full 60FPS..
Same for AoC...this game is at a constant 60FPS...but, I had to turn off 3D Occlusion...which really brightened up the game as well...

Ok Openedge1...you have me intersted!! Do you have an 8800gt because that is what I have? I need to know your settings because I cannot seem to get above 40 fps and I am lucky to get that high.
I would appreciate any help on getting this awesome game to run better on my machine. :)
Intel E8450 and 4 gigs of ram maybe helping?...lol
But...the secrets are
AF 16x in game
Otherwise...all control panel settings should be off...like the AF optimizations and what not...
3D occlusion MUST be disabled
Bloom must be disabled
View distance is at 2000
If I think of more...I will post them...
