LotRO Experiment Begins Tonight

Tonight's the night. Hudson, his brother, and I are going to attempt to start our weekly LotRO group tonight. I'll be playing a Minstrel in our little trio of awesomeness, which should be interesting as I never did play one in LotRO except for a wee bit during the beta process.

The only thing I've got to take care of before logging into Middle-earth is a few pieces of content for Ten Ton Hammer. Then? It's off to create my little dwarf and hopefully have more fun than I remember having in LotRO. Hudson seems to really be enjoying himself, but I fear the whole time I'll just be wishing I was in Hyboria instead.

We'll see...

Just dont let me die sir.

Kidding

The first night will be so easy you wont even have to heal. Shouts and DPS because we can rip through that content easily.

Friday I swear I will get out of Tortage.

Joe,

I just so happen to have a lifetime account in LOTR and am also on Wiccana for AoC. I would like to play on a regular group in LotR or AoC for that matter. The basic issue is I am uber casual in the summer ;)

If you all dont mind having another tag along, I would love to have a regular group to play with. What hours on thursday nights would you be playing? I would not be able to start till next week but it should not be too hard to catch up ;)

Enjoy the return to LoTRO, it's good times. My gf is really enjoying her Minstrel after having played a mage in WoW. It seems like a really great class.

I would advise you guys to try to find a few more people to play with. The instance content in LoTRO is rather tough when done 'at level', and with only 3 you will struggle. And considering thats some of the best content (imo of course), its well worth finding a few more.

@Sarzan: I don't see why not, really. In fact, I might be having to postpone my playing LotRO until next week as well.

Got a big task tonight for TTH that I sadly can't do here at work. But let me check with Hudson to see if he has any aversions to the idea (doubt it).

It would definitely be cool to get a nice group going each week.

@Syncaine: I'm hoping to! It's been months since I really tried to get into LotRO, and a static group might be exactly what the game needs for me.

Sweet!

If there are no objections (no offense if there are, there is more than enough to do in AoC ;)), I will run a newbie toon to whatever starting area of your choice. I think I have played most of them at least once so I have no real preference. I will look for the info here or in an email :)

I will play a class no one else is(Hudson = Guardian, His Brother = DPS-Hunter? or AoE DPS-Champ?, You = Minstrel). Perhaps a Burglar for Heroic Opportunity openings or a Loremaster for CC/Debuffing...

You will like the Minstrel in its current incarnation. They made it better with new songs and an offensive mode which allows you to do more damage at the cost of healing. I was pleasantly surprised when I came back and those enhancements were made :)

We are on Meneldor Sarzan come on over. I play my captain if the thursday group isnt going on.

Her name is Nymira. I also have a new burglar named Abroxus. BUt our current group is only Guardian, Hunter, Minstrel. We are going to be elves dwarves so that we dont start too far apart

I liked this last time I played it. Is it still progressively a good game? New expansions and the like?

I think the free content is really nice but I cant say TOO much since most of it is high level. Take a gander at this link:

http://www.lotro.com/book13

Also anyone that wants to join I have a personal Ventrilo server we can use I dont like the in game voice comms too much

ventrilo is definitely better hands down but actually Hudson if you fiddle with the in game comms a bit they can be very decent. The same can be said for the graphics and the combat options. If you are a minstrel(or anyone) make sure to go to combat options and select "Enable Skill target forwarding" and also "show vitals of selection's target" and "show direction of selection" All VERY nice all the time but especially for minstrels and hunters.

Well crap... I keep crashing... Just a bit of the ole black screen. Going to see if I hit the same thing in AoC and if not, LotR is not digging the latest NVIDIA drivers. Hopefully I can get it fixed by next thursday.

Speaking of which, do we have a target goal to get to inorder to get together? Level, etc?

Well boo! It is with LotR :( AoC is playing smooth as can be. I will have to do a rolling back of graphics drivers till things are stable :(

Got it :) Had to go back to DX8. My toon's name is Arydal! Got past some of the intro and into the beginning quests. Let me know the target level for this coming Thursday! We lost in our Kickball Playoffs so Thursdays are open now!

Oh, I am a Loremaster! The only way we will get a burgler is to get one to defect from the humans or hobbitsesssss... ;)

Well we made it to the final quest before leaving the newbie zone in Thorin's Gate.

So I'd say if you can get the newbie experience done and get into current day Thorin's Gate or Elf-Land you'll be okay. :)

Sweet :) I finished the intro instance and did the quests up on the ledge to get me to dwarf land. I am by the dwarf by the fountain near Thorins Gate if I have my geography correct. I picked up a few quests in preparation for this coming thursday. I made it to level 4 and will check your other post to see how far you all are and if I need to catch up or stay put!
