Ruminations on Future Xbox Purchases

So, as any obsessed gamer would do, now that I have my Xbox 360 I've been thinking about my purchase schedule and debating just what it is I want the most on the system. The good part about getting a system two years after launch is that a lot of the great titles from the 1st year or even just months ago are on sale for half-price or even less if they're used.

For the past two months I've been dying to try Mass Effect, and while I still want it, now that I have my Xbox I find myself thinking, "Wouldn't it be wiser to get two games for the price of one now that many are $30 or less?" So here's what I'm thinking. First chance I have (barring unforeseen expenses) it will behoove me to pick up Crackdown and Saints Row but not before I get NBA 2K8 (I think).

Crackdown can be found for as little as $20 and Saints Row is $30 brand new. NBA 2K8 however is still full price... but I feel a real need for a sports game for the 1st time in years, so I'm going to have to bite the bullet on that one.

For those of you who have had your Xbox 360s for a while, are there any other games from the past that I should be taking a gander at? I'm having trouble processing all the possibilities of this system now that I have one.

Hand down, get Gears of War. While I was never thrilled with the multiplayer, the single-player was incredible. I actually played through it twice and I never do that for any games. Online co-op is awesome as well.

I can't remember... do you have a Gamefly account? I think it's worth it. I'm jealous of your Wii 360 system. :)

The list of games that you should play if you haven't:

Saints Row (THE BEST)
Gears of War
Eternal Sonata
Call of Duty 4
Dead Rising
Viva Pinata
Overlord
Bioshock
Halo 3

Then check out Xbox Live Arcade. You'll find a dozen great games for cheap.

you got the orange box which really can not be beat for game value .... er the condemed if you like horror genre, tomb raider for some good ole fashioned nostalgia. Bioshock because on a big screen it just rocks, guitar hero III for the wannabe musicans hiding in our selfs .... hmm and the list goes on but those are always a good start. I would personally just hit up blockbuster or something .... oh and cod4 is a must for fps shooter

I do want Orange Box, but I'm going to wait until I have Live, same with COD4. Bioshock is a must yep... but I'm still wavering on Saints Row and Crackdown 1st, because I've been wanting to play them since they came out.

I'll have to write these games down, lol. There's too many!

Personally I'm not a huge fan of FPS, but find I enjoy them on the PC better since the mouse and KB controls are bit more refined.

I for one am loving Mass Effect, its my favorite so far. Granted I only got my 360 a couple of months ago myself. I've got a bunch of games on deck, though. Halo 3 was a big disappointment, I wouldn't bother unless you you are big on multiplayer. I also hear good things about Assasin's Creed.

get orange box on the PC man, the xbox 360 version has a ton of problems in TF2. Plus the online community is actually smaller in the 360 version

I own the PC version of Orange Box and my bro (Graev) owns the Xbox version. He likes halflife on the Xbox but prefers TF2 on the PC (Which he also owns, heh).
