Dave Perry Announces "Top Secret" MMO

Dave Perry, the founder of Shiny Entertainment, and now the Chief Creative Director at the revamped Online Game focused ACCLAIM, announced the new "Top Secret" project today. From the Next-Gen article where I 1st read about the development:

"Acclaim and Perry are inviting gamers to sign up to help out with the development of Top Secret, a fully-funded MMO project which Perry is directing for PC. Multiple participants will be accepted to aid Perry and his team through the development process. Any participant-submitted designs, ideas, art, animation and audio that are used in the game will be properly credited to contributors in the final game.

For developer hopefuls, however, the bigger news is that whomever “shines most” during the development of Top Secret will receive the chance to direct his or her own “major” MMO, which is fully-funded and guaranteed to be published by Acclaim. Perry will executive produce the title and the appointed director will receive royalties from the game.Acclaim CEO Howard Marks likened the Top Secret project to “’The Apprentice’ meets ‘American Idol’ meets ‘The Video Game Industry.’” No experience is required.

“I’ve always loved the idea that someone, from their bedroom, reveals their passion and talent, then suddenly can have an absolutely stunning career explosion, becoming a famous Game Director with a pre-built fan base. We’re going to make it happen!” said Perry, who is chief creative officer at Acclaim and CEO of GameConsultants.com.The entry period and available spots on the project are limited. Those interested can visit topsecret.acclaim.com."

Now, I'm not sure how I feel about the idea as a whole... it seems to me that both the player-created game in conjunction with Perry, and the game that one lucky player gets to make later on might end up being nothing but misled poopers. But I hope I'm wrong. I hope Acclaim takes to heart the potential of letting us gamers have a crack at directing our own game. I hope they find a one in a million idea for something new and influential in the genre. But I'm going to remain cautiously optimisitic of the whole thing until I learn more about it.

What say you lot? If you could make an MMO, what it would be like?
